Dandruff

Are you scared to wear black, fearing your dandruff will show on your shirt or your dress? Is your scalp constantly itchy and flaky? Donā€™t worry, you are not alone. Dandruff is a very common problem; it is more common and visible in some people than others. The most common symptoms of dandruff are tiny white skin flakes on the scalp, hair, eyebrows, shoulders, and itchy scalp. Today, a lot of different treatment plans are available to treat your itchy, flaky scalp.

What causes dandruff?
Although the exact cause for dandruff is still unknown, there are a number of things that can increase the risk of dandruff or accelerate your dandruff problem. Some such causes are:

  • Unclean hair or not shampooing enough can cause flaky scalp
  • Oily, irritated scalp could cause dandruff and could turn into seborrheic dermatitis, a more severe problem
  • Allergic reaction to certain hair care products could cause the scalp to become flaky and red
  • Contact Dermatitis could also contribute to dandruff
  • Eczema or psoriasis could also lead to dandruff

Although dandruff generally shows up in adolescence and continues until the middle ages, adults could also suffer from this problem. Men have a higher tendency for having dandruff. Some severe diseases like HIV or Parkinsonā€™s could also increase your risk of getting dandruff.
